Dear Expectant Mother,

Hello! We are Scott & Nicky from Berkeley, California. We have so much love to give and would be honored to provide a warm, supportive and nurturing home for your child. We admire your courage and are impressed by the tremendous strength and love you must have to make this decision. We hope we can all share your child’s life through an open adoption.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us as people and as a family.

The Heart of Who We Are

We are both passionate activists for social and environmental justice.

Having been friends for over ten years, we fell in love unexpectedly five years ago and have been married for four. Because it took us so long to find each other, adoption is the perfect path for us to fulfill our dreams of becoming a family.

Our shared values, experiences and community are the bedrock of our relationship and make us confident we can provide our child with a home in which she or he can thrive.

Our Home

Why we love our home- games, gardens and fun meals on the deck! We are very lucky to live in a two-bedroom home in Berkeley, CA. It has a big yard made for summer BBQs, a veggie garden and an enormous lemon tree perfect for lemonade. Our friends’ children love it and we can’t wait to see our own child running with the pack.

Our two rescue cats – Owen & Diamond – have had a tough time and we are happy to give them a safe and loving home. West Berkeley is a wonderful place to raise a family; schools are close & racial diversity is high.

Meet Scott

Scott is a loving and supportive partner. He is really excited about including a child in our little family and will be a wonderful father. Scott is a dedicated activist, working tirelessly to protect the climate and fight for social justice. He is also a natural nurturer and mentor, beloved by people across the country for his quiet and compassionate support for them and their causes. Scott grew up in Texas and has lived in California for the last 17 years, spending much of his spare time hiking in the woods or kayaking on the San Francisco Bay. Scott also loves nothing more than curling up with a good book or movie and is the host of a popular podcast.

Meet Nicky

Nicky is a beautiful person. She is caring, creative and compassionate, with boundless energy which she channels into support for all the people around her and she will be an extraordinary mother. Nicky is from Australia and her passion to protect people and the planet has led her to live in Europe, Southeast Asia and now the US. When not making the world a better place, she nourishes her creativity through reading books, cooking delicious food inspired by her travels and playing her violin; her body through swimming, hiking and yoga; and her heart by being a wonderful ‘aunty’ to the many small children with whom we are blessed to share our lives.

Meet Our Family

We both have wonderful parents, sisters and brothers who can’t wait to welcome our child into the extended family.

Scott’s parents live in Texas and his dad, in particular, is looking forward to the day our child is old enough to take bird watching. Nicky’s parents visit every year as they travel between their homes in Australia and France and are excited about meeting their first grandchild. We also have a large ‘chosen’ family with branches in California, Texas, Europe and Australia, so our child will be welcomed into a generation with 20 or more ‘cousins’ all over the world.
