Casey & Shane

Dear Expectant Mother,

Hi! We are Shane & Casey from the Bay Area South of San Francisco. Thank you for considering us in your adoption plan. We’ve always been drawn to adoption and after struggling with infertility issues, we knew this was the right path for us. We hope our profile will give you a sense of the life we can provide for your child.

Lessons We Will Teach Your Child
  • Honesty and integrity will get you far.
  • Effort is more important than perfection.
  • Mistakes are necessary in life in order to grow and succeed.
  • A growth mindset. You can do anything you put your mind to.
  • Happiness comes from within. It is not a destination you reach, but a constant journey.
About Shane Written by Casey

From the moment I met Shane, I could tell he was an intelligent, caring, and dedicated person. When he starts something, he puts his all into it. This is a quality I greatly admire about him. He strives to always be learning. He loves to seek out new topics of interest ranging from running to cooking, to software concepts. Watching him interact with our nephews is truly a sight to see. You’ll see 3 kids and one ‘big kid’ on the floor building blocks and fully engaging with them at their level. He cannot wait to be a dad and this shines through him as he mentions activities and experiences he wants to share with our future family one day.

Shane’s Fun Facts

  • Favorite author is John Steinbeck.
About Casey Written by Shane

Casey is a compassionate, selfless, and warm person. She loves the outdoors, and that’s one of the ways we connected, but she also loves to recharge at home with a good book and a cup of tea. She has inspired me to relax and enjoy life’s little moments. One of my favorite things about Casey is her passion for teaching. Her teaching style isn’t just about academics, she also believes in teaching kids to be curious, kind, and honest. Not only does she teach these values, she lives them everyday, and I can tell that she’s excited to be a mom, and share these values with our future child.

Casey’s Fun Facts
  • First job was a swim teacher/lifeguard.
  • Ideal vacation is anywhere with a beach.
  • Lived in Italy for a year.
  • Favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla.
  • Loves to read classic American literature.
Our Work & Passion

Shane is a Software Engineer and Casey is an Elementary School Teacher. We’re both passionate about our jobs, but we like to keep a good work-life balance. Casey has the perfect schedule for raising a child, because she has summers off and is going to teach part time once we have a family. Shane works from home and makes his own hours. A big perk is that he gets unlimited days off.

Our Home

We live in the Bay Area just South of San Francisco. We recently bought a house one block away from where Casey grew up. Most of Shane’s family lives in Ireland, so being close to Casey’s family is really important to us. We love having parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles all within a 5 min walk. Our diverse community has a lot of great parks, a local swimming pool, and a library. Although we’re only 12 miles from San Francisco, our city has a small home-town feel to it. We’re also only 15 minutes from beaches and hiking trails. We love the outdoors and enjoy the many locations available to us in California!

Our Furry Friend, Java

We have an adorable 10 year old chocolate Labrador named Java. He is a gentle giant, very affectionate, and is great with kids. One of our family traditions is “Tuesday Night Dinner”. Each week we take turns hosting dinner with Casey’s mom and grandmother followed by a friendly game of Jeopardy – yes, we keep score! This weekly tradition has been going strong for 10 years.

Our Loved Ones

Our family is spread across 2 continents. Casey’s extended family is mostly in the Bay Area, while Shane’s is in Ireland. Even though they live far apart, our families are very close. Shane’s parents visit every year and love America. We have three young nephews who live close by, so family gatherings happen all the time. Shane has an older half brother who was placed for adoption as a baby. They have since reconnected and he is a special part of our family now.
