Shawn & Abby

Shawn and Abby in their backyard

Dear Expectant Mother,

Hello! We are Shawn and Abby from San Jose, California. We have been wanting to grow our family and recently found out we cannot medically do that on our own. We understand this may be a difficult decision for you, but we can assure you we will provide a loving, stable, and supportive home and family for your child.  This child will be blessed with two older siblings, Logan (17) and Lucas (16) as well as our loving extended families and supportive friends.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us.

How We Became Us

We met when we were 18 & 19 years old and attending San Jose City College. We both played basketball for the school. We would smile at each other when our teams would cross paths in the gyms between practices and Shawn finally got the courage up to speak to Abby when we were both at the State Tournament. We were inseparable for the rest of the year. Life happened, and we went our separate ways onto our next college adventures.

In 2008, our paths crossed again as adults and we found our way back to each other. We have been together ever since and were married in 2018. Life in our home is adventurous, comical, and relaxing. We enjoy each other’s company, traveling, taking our two dogs for a walk, and spending time with family and friends.

A Bit More About Us
We are both avid sports fans with a love for our local (and not so-local) sports teams. We love to travel and explore new places.  We recently fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and look forward to traveling back there soon. Shawn has a natural green thumb and loves to garden and learn about new plants and ecosystems. Abby is obsessed with puzzles and will not quit until they are completed. We love to watch TV together, eat sushi, and spend time with our friends and BBQ.
Meet Shawn

I am the oldest of 5 siblings. I was born in Oxnard, CA and moved to San Jose when I was a baby with my mom and dad. I was raised by a single mom with occasional visits to my father in the summers. I started playing basketball at a young age which I hope to pass on to your child.

I have two children from a previous marriage, Logan (f) & Lucas (m), who both currently live with their mother in Southern California. I have worked in the retail and technology fields, but have recently found my passion for education and re-enrolled in school to pursue my Teaching Credential.

Meet Abby
I am the youngest of two. I was born and raised in San Jose, CA. My family lineage has been in San Jose since the late 1800s and I have strong family ties here to this day. I played basketball growing up in middle, high school, and in Junior College which led to my path in becoming a Physical Education teacher. My experience before teaching was in restaurants. This led to my love of cooking which I hope to share with your child.
Where We Call Home
We are both so blessed to still be living in the heart of Silicon Valley where we both grew up. We currently live in South San Jose. We live in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with a beautiful backyard that we spend lots of time in. We live a block away from an elementary school and are surrounded by lots of families with young children in our neighborhood. We are currently living 10 minutes away from Abby’s sister and parents, as well as multiple lifelong friends. Chances of us running into someone we know at the store are high!
Our Kiddos
  • Logan (17): Logan is a high school senior and a very good student. She loves playing volleyball and is the captain of her team. She is a natural born leader and is currently deciding on where she will attend college.
  • Lucas (16): Lucas is a junior in high school and loves playing for his school’s basketball team. He enjoys playing video games and is very tech savvy.  He is kind and patient and plays the family peacemaker.
Game Night Tradition
We started a tradition of Family Game Night with our kids when they were little, and to this day, when they come visit us they still insist on playing.
Our Pups
We love our dogs Buddy and Quilla. We rescued them both and they have been a part of our family ever since.
Friends and Family
We are lucky to have an amazing extended family. Abby’s parents and sister currently live in San Jose and Shawn’s brother and nieces live in Santa Cruz, which is only about 30 minutes away. Along with our families being nearby, we are surrounded by lifelong friends. Shawn’s mom, sister, and nephews live in Arizona. Family and friends are important to all of us.  We get together on holidays, birthdays, and any other time we can make an excuse to do so.
Our Thoughts About Parenting
We are so excited to become parents and really plan on being hands on.  We are willing to have an open adoption if that is what your choice is. We really believe in being open and honest with our children and teaching them life lessons. We cannot wait to share our love for sports, travel, and family with your child.
