John & Kira

John & Kira

Dear Expectant Mother,

Hello! We are John and Kira from Sonoma County, California. We have prepared a long time for the incredible experience of parenthood. We are ready and excited to step into this role.  We are adventurous, nurturing and kind by nature, and we want to provide a safe, supportive environment full of laughter, imagination and unconditional love for your child.

We thank you for reading our letter to learn a little about our story. We hope we will have an opportunity to tell you more about us—and to hear about your goals and dreams for your child.

What we Love
  • Weekly gatherings with close friends & family
  • New adventures hiking, exploring & traveling
  • Our dogs Stella, Sophie & Ollie, & our cat Remo
  • Growing, cooking & eating great food
  • Listening to music, reading & learning
  • Enjoying the small things every day
About Us
We grew up near each other in Sonoma County for most of our lives, but never actually met until 7 years ago online—and had an instant connection. We talked every day, often about our hopes and dreams for the future. Since our marriage in 2015 our connection has only grown.

We are an active, fun, responsible couple with a good sense of humor. Our weekends are filled with outdoor activities. Every day includes a walk with our dogs soaking in the beauty of rural Sonoma County. We love exploring new hiking spots and hanging out with friends and family, but we have fun with each other even just grocery shopping or running errands. We have a Saturday night tradition of a “family meal” where everyone is welcome and this has become one of our most cherished activities.

We always wanted a child. Due to life-long infertility issues we are grateful for the opportunity adoption provides us. We are eagerly awaiting the day that we can share our love with a child.

Story of John, by Kira
John is the most incredible person I know. He is funny, adventurous, super smart, sensitive and cares deeply about the needs of others. He is someone I can count on when times are tough and celebrate with when good news comes our way. He knows how to make people feel special and give them the individual time they deserve.

John handles everything in his life with ease, even the unexpected, which has served him well in his 20-year career in the technology industry specializing in negotiation strategy—which I am sure a child will put to the test! At home, John enjoys dancing, singing, hiking with our dogs, grilling with friends, and snuggling on the couch.

Around kids, John’s genuine, loving, and playful nature shines through. When he is with his nieces and nephews all you hear is the sound of laughter and joy with just the right amount of praise and encouragement. John is excited about having a baby and all that means—he has already volunteered for the night shift! I know he will be a great Dad.

Story of Kira, by John
Kira is the most beautiful person in the world in my eyes, both inside and out. I am drawn to her endless love and compassion for people, animals and her family—me included. She is genuine, honest and giving—I admire that she is always helping others. Kira is a strong woman with a loving heart.

Kira is a therapist, and she has spent countless hours with children building relationships, inspiring confidence, fixing hurts, playing games, handling conflict and restoring families. After a long day she still has a gleam in her eye from the fulfillment of how her clients change and grow over time. Kira enjoys hiking with our dogs, hanging out with friends, learning
new things, reading, and just being outdoors.

Kira grew up with three adopted siblings and learned early on that adoption is a very special way to create a family filled with unconditional love and support. She has long dreamed of the day we have our own baby. Writing this now brings tears to my eyes thinking about my wife as a mother. I know she will be wonderful!

Our Friends & Family
Spending time with our extended family and friends is very important to us. We have a huge network here in Sonoma County that are all very excited to be a part of our child’s life. We have siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins scattered throughout the area, and we have created our own “extended family” of friends with whom we enjoy sharing meals and events. We love our family, friends, neighbors and community, and we look forward to raising a child within this wonderful support network.
Our Home
Our home is where the fun begins. We have a large home on a big lot that has plenty of room to play, garden and explore. Our home, like us, is patiently waiting for the sound of a child’s laughter and footsteps running about. Sonoma County is truly a beautiful place to live and our house is nestled is a safe and quiet neighborhood with a spectacular view of the surrounding hills. Our house is large enough for family and friends, “family night,” and holiday gatherings. The school system in our area is one of the top rated, and the elementary school is only about a mile away.
Our Parenting Values
We are excited to grow our family through adoption and to be able to share all of life’s milestones together—from first words and first steps, to a lifetime of family traditions and future birthdays. We both are lucky to have flexibility with our jobs to work from home which allows us to spend the most time possible with our child.

We plan to instill in our child a passion and curiosity for the world and provide support so our child can pursue his or her goals and dreams. We value education and realize that learning comes from real world experiences as well as the classroom. We will love this child unconditionally and give the best guidance we can to enable our child to become the best version of him or herself. We welcome your involvement in the child’s life, however that may look for you.
