Dear Expectant Mother,
We are Andrea and Kevin from San Francisco, California. We would love to grow our family through adoption and are ready to take that next step. We admire your decision, and appreciate you considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We hope our letter gives you some insight into us, our lives and how we want to raise a child.
Our Favorite Things:
- Cycling & running around the Bay Area
- Spending time with friends & family
- Movie nights with our nephews
- Visiting museums & going to art shows
- Spending weekends on the Northern California coast
We met five years ago in San Francisco through friends. After dating for a few weeks, we took a trip together on the Northern California coast, where we both got to know each other’s personalities and hopes for the future. We knew after that trip that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
We come from very different backgrounds. Andrea was born in Italy where he spent most of his youth, while Kevin was raised in Connecticut. Despite growing up in different places in the world, we have a lot in common. We both believe in the importance of family and friendship, and we enjoy doing a variety of activities together. At home, we love gardening and cooking together for our families and friends. We like to stay active, whether through yoga, hiking or riding our bicycles across the Golden Gate Bridge. We can’t wait to include our little one in all our daily activities.
We especially love to travel. We believe that travel helps expand our understanding of other cultures and helps us grow as people. When we visit a new country, we always try to experience its traditions and cuisine and we make an effort to get to know the locals. We are excited to share these experiences with our child.
Introducing Andrea, by Kevin
Loving. Intelligent. Thoughtful. Generous. Those words describe Andrea for me, who since the day I met him, has always been supportive of me and kind in every possible way. In the morning before I leave for work he packs me a bag of snacks, and every night he makes sure I have a healthy dinner (he has thought of writing a cookbook called “Cooking for Kevin”).
Andrea grew up in a small town in Italy where family and education were important priorities. He is very close to his parents, who are excited to become grandparents and plan to spend a lot of time here in San Francisco now that they are both recently retired.
Andrea attended college in France and then moved to the United States where he received his PhD in engineering from Berkeley. He now manages a team at a biotech company in South San Francisco.
Andrea is very determined and when he puts his mind to something, he always gets it done with great success. I’ve been so inspired and motivated by him in so many ways. He’s truly helped me grow as an individual, and I know he will be such a dedicated and devoted father.
Introducing Kevin, by Andrea
Kevin is the kindest and most sensitive person I’ve ever met. He is funny (he has a contagious laugh), spontaneous and always optimistic. Kevin is always there for his family and friends and never misses important moments in his niece and nephews’ lives. Kevin is the kind of person that everyone wants to be with—especially children.
Kevin grew up in Connecticut in a family of Irish descent with his older brother Jimmy. Kevin’s family is very close and they always gather in Jimmy’s big house in Boston for the holidays. I feel very fortunate that Kevin’s family has welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait for our child to have that same welcoming experience.
After college in upstate New York, Kevin moved to San Francisco where he started a successful career in Marketing. He was also a competitive dancer for many years, and he still likes to prepare dance routines when he visits with his niece and nephews. Kevin is also an excellent videographer—he loves to capture special moments in his friends’ and family’s lives. He is excited to share his passions with our own child.
We own a beautiful two-bedroom home in the Cole Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Cole Valley is a beautiful and safe area of the city close to good schools, family-oriented stores, the beach and Golden Gate Park, which is filled with kids’ playgrounds.
We love our home’s views of the city, the natural light and our spacious backyard and garden. The house offers lots of room for a child to explore and play, both indoor and outdoor.
Our Vision of Parenting
We look forward to building a loving and nurturing environment for our child. We were both raised valuing the importance of family, which includes mutual respect and embracing our differences. We want to share these values with our child.
We want to make sure that our child builds strong bonds with the rest of our extended family. We plan to visit the East Coast and Italy during the holidays or the summer months, and teach our child to speak Italian to better communicate with our relatives.
Our parents always supported us to explore our individual interests and we will encourage our child to do the same. We believe in the importance of education, and in presenting our child with a wide range of life experiences (traveling, spending time in the outdoors, going to museums) to help develop his or her unique personality.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us. We are very excited about bringing a child into our lives and hope you will reach out to learn more about us—and we would love to learn about you and your hopes for your child in return.
