Sadie and Ryan

Dear Expectant Mother,

Hello—we are Sadie & Ryan from sunny Los Angeles! We want to thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us and our dreams for raising a child. Family is something we value most in our lives—and we are so excited to become first-time parents through adoption. We greatly admire the choice you are making, and we’d love to have the opportunity to tell you more about our family and to learn about your own hopes for the future and for your child.

  • Quiet nights staying in and watching a movie DIY projects and making our house our own
  • Celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas

Our Story

We met in New York City fourteen years ago when we started college. For years we built a wonderful friendship then fell in love when we both moved to California, Sadie first to San Francisco and Ryan to Los Angeles. We dated long distance before Sadie moved to L.A. We were married in December of 2017, and are now excited to begin growing our family.

We love jogging along the ocean, hiking the mountains of L.A, and playing with our dog, Frankie. But some of our favorite moments together are spent at home, learning new recipes and hosting dinner parties for family and friends. Whatever we are doing, we are always enjoying one another and laughing together, and our child will be surrounded by loving, playful family and friends.

We both share a love of travel and have visited exciting places like Iceland, New Zealand and Kenya. We are eager to share our interest in exploring new cultures and places with our child to inspire his or her own sense of curiosity and wonder.

About Sadie, by Ryan

Sadie is one of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met. Her large group of friends is a testament to her own giving and loyal nature. Sadie has an amazing joy for life and a truly adventurous spirit. Whether it’s paragliding, sea kayaking, or eating new foods, Sadie is always excited to try new things, and can’t wait to share her curiosity with our child.

Sadie grew up in New Hampshire with three sisters and has a strong bond with each of them. She has worked in “tech” start up companies and has had incredible opportunities to work on products ranging from ride-shares for kids to video games for charity.

Sadie’s empathy, strength and her ability to take on any challenge will make her an amazing mother. With the birth of our nephew, Cole, Sadie has made it a priority to visit him in San Francisco as often as she can. The kindness, sensitivity, and patience she displays towards Cole and our friends’ children makes it clear she is going to thrive as a mom.

About Ryan, by Sadie

Ryan comes from a close-knit Massachusetts family and has fond memories of growing up at the beach with his two younger brothers. I admire what a great big brother Ryan is to them—giving them unconditional love and any advice they need in life, as I know he will do with our own child.

Ryan is charismatic, smart, and eager to learn new things. He can find humor in any situation and he makes me laugh all the time. He has transformed that unique ability into a career as a TV comedy writer. Ryan loves to bring joy into people’s lives through his writing. His favorite things are reading books, writing a new script, listening to music and going to the movies.

Ryan is an amazing partner, and I know he is going to be a phenomenal father. Everyone we know calls him the “baby whisperer”—children naturally gravitate to him. I know he will be loving, supportive and kind to our child, and he will make sure there is always laughter in our home.

Our Family & Friends

Both our parents still live on the East Coast and we visit several times a year. Sadie’s sister, Hannah, lives in San Francisco with our nephew, Cole. Ryan’s younger brothers, Cory and Jody, live in Los Angeles and are often over at our home for dinner. Sadie’s sister Kesiah was adopted, so our family has experienced how incredible adoption can be. We are grateful that our child will have Kesiah as a loving resource.

We have a wonderful group of friends here and on the East Coast. Many of our friends are starting families of their own and we’ve enjoyed being an “aunt” and “uncle” to their amazing kids.

Where We Live

We live in a diverse neighborhood in LA, with lots of young families. We moved into our new home last summer and have enjoyed working to make it our own. It has plenty of space to grow our new family. We are in walking distance of an amazing park that has great open spaces and fun play areas filled with kids, and there are several high-quality schools nearby.

Our Values

We wish to raise our child to be self-confident, intelligent and a fun-loving individual. We want to help our child grow into a thoughtful and curious person, who wishes to help others, and is active in the community. Education is a priority for us, so we plan to provide our child with every resource to learn. We look forward to creating lasting memories together traveling in the U.S. and abroad. We are excited to carry on the traditions that we were raised on, and we are also eager to develop our own special family traditions as we grow together.
