About Us

With daughter of Sadie’s college roommate

We first met in high school, attending the same small school in Fresno, California. After school, we each moved around for several years, then reconnected when we both moved back to Fresno. We soon found that not only did we have lots of fun together, but we also had many things in common. Our friendship developed into love, and we were married twelve years ago.

We wanted to start a family and discovered we could not have a biological child, but that challenge has just made us stronger as a couple. We are now certain that becoming parents through adoption is the right choice for us.

We have lived in San Francisco for ten years. While we are proud of our small town roots, we also appreciate the diversity, culture, and beauty that San Francisco offers. We enjoy hiking, going to sporting events and concerts, visiting local museums, and exploring different neighborhoods. We also LOVE to travel and have been fortunate to visit Hawaii, Mexico, Paris, and London together.  We can’t wait to share our favorite places and new adventures with our child.

About Joey, by Sadie

With nephew on ferry to Sausalito

Joey is incredibly capable, good-natured, calm, positive, and funny. I am so grateful to have him as my partner in life. Although he is smart and witty, he doesn’t need to be the center of attention, and I admire his quiet confidence.

Joey has a Masters Degree in Real Estate and works in San Francisco for a successful bank as Executive Director of Global Real Estate.

Joey enjoys spending time with family, cooking, fishing, golfing, and doing other outdoor activities. Our nephews love spending time with Uncle Joey, as he is always willing to try new Fortnite game dances or throw a football around with them. I know he is going to be a loving, committed father who will teach our child important values and skills.

About Sadie, by Joey

Ice skating with goddaughter in Fresno

Sadie is the most compassionate and caring person I know. Her work ethic, intelligence, loyalty, and determination are an inspiration to me. Her family and friends are her top priority. One of her favorite things is to gather friends on the weekends to enjoy a picnic in the park. In the winter months, she’ll get to the ski slopes whenever possible.

Sadie has dedicated her life to helping others.  She works as a county attorney, helping people repair their criminal records so that they can obtain occupational licenses and employment.

I know Sadie will be an amazing mother. On a recent visit with friends, their two-year-old daughter just wanted Sadie to hold her and read to her the entire afternoon!  From ‘The Little Engine that Could’ to Harry Potter, Sadie can’t wait to share her love of reading with our child.  She has the protective instincts of a momma bear and will teach our child to stand up for what he or she believes in.

Family & Friends

Both of our parents come from large, loving families and we maintain close relationships with all our extended family. We are both grateful to have parents who prioritized family and marriage and who continue to be an example of love and partnership (they have been married for over 40 years). They taught us to persevere through good times and bad, and instilled in us strong work ethics.

Joey has two brothers, and we regularly visit their families; one lives in Louisiana and the other in Kentucky. Joey’s parents now live in a beach town on the Central California Coast, and we visit them often. Sadie has a younger brother who lives in the valley east of the San Francisco Bay Area. Sadie’s parents recently moved from there to Bend, Oregon, where we enjoy visiting and spending time hiking and skiing.

We are grateful to have built a strong and loving community of friends in the Bay Area, and to have maintained relationships with childhood and college friends. Our friends and family are supportive, open-minded people who can’t wait to welcome our child into their lives.

Where We Live

Our Home

We live  in the Marina District of San Francisco, which is a family-friendly, safe, and beautiful neighborhood. We live three blocks from a large park, which sits along the San Francisco Bay, and there is a great public library nearby. We love being close to the Golden Gate Bridge and within walking distance to our favorite restaurants.

Our Commitment to You

We will provide a stable, loving, and supportive home to our child. We plan to teach our child to celebrate people’s differences and to be strong and compassionate. We are committed to providing our child with a quality, well-rounded education. We value having a diverse group of friends and family and look forward to celebrating our child’s background and culture, whatever that might be. We believe in leading a balanced and joyful life, and always being there for the ones we love during the hard times, as well as the good.
