Paige and Ben

Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. Please know we think you are courageous and we respect you for making this difficult and life changing decision. Your bravery will change all of our lives and we will share this experience with you, the baby, and our son Kasun. We want to hear from you about your hopes and dreams for your child.

We hope this information about our family will be helpful to you. We wrote it for you so you can get to know us and see how excited we are to open our arms to another child. We have been on an awesome journey

raising four-year-old Kasun, and he is very ready to be a big brother as much as we are to have another child with whom to share our love. We hope you will consider us as a part of your family if it feels like a positive and healthy connection, at a level that is comfortable. Again, thank you for considering us.

ABOUT BEN (By Paige):

Ben is a wonderful, strong caring man and a fun and playful father.   He is a talented furniture builder-he can build anything. He built a swing set and sandbox for Kasun who will share it with his new sibling when the time comes. Ben makes the best scrambled eggs you have ever tasted. He also loves to work on racecars. Ben was born in England and moved to America because we fell in love and wanted to marry and make a life in California. We have been married for nine years and have always wanted to become parents. Ben is a wonderful father to Kasun, and can’t wait to shower another child with love.

Paige is an elementary school principal who adores children and loves being a mom. She has worked in education for seventeen years and has a passion for helping children. She is a strong, loving woman who has so much love to give.   Paige teaches the values of respect, responsibility, safety and kindness in her elementary school and in our home. She was overjoyed to become Kasun’s mother through adoption, and raising him since his birth for the past 4 years.   She enjoys cooking, gardening and hiking with her family. Some of our favorite dishes of hers are quiche, curry, and pesto pasta. Our favorite hike is Helen Putnam Park and our favorite beach is Dillon beach. Paige is a devoted mom who adores her family and has an unlimited amount of love to share with another child.

We are a happily married couple who have grown stronger together over the past nine years. The experience of adopting Kasun and raising him has been the best years of our lives together. We know we will be the most loving and appreciative parents when we adopt our next child and add to our family. We respect each other and support each other in every instance of our relationship. We are ready to expand our family and share our love with a new child. Kasun is also ready to share his love with a little baby brother or sister. We can’t wait to embark on a new adventure with another child.

Ben is the yard manager of Barlas Feed Store and a highlight of his day is delivering hay to local farms where he gets to connect with farmers and animals.

Paige is an elementary school principal who can’t wait for Kasun and our new child to attend her school so she can see them all day every day! She adores her work with children and feels fortunate to work in a school, which values educational excellence, the arts, social and emotional skill building, and respecting the environment. She can’t imagine a more nurturing and thriving place for children to be educated than her elementary school. We feel so fortunate to be able to both be able to be with our children throughout their day-to-day lives, and to watch them grow into caring, healthy adults.

We have a beautiful home in Petaluma, California, which is a mostly rural community with a lovely, historic city center. Our neighborhood is family friendly and filled with children playing in the streets or at one of the three parks within walking distance. Kasun loves having other kids over to share his swing set, sand box, and trampoline! We host get-togethers and BBQs for the neighborhood on a regular basis.

We are a family that eats together every day. We plan to help our children with their homework, support their interests, and nurture their passions. We read to Kasun every night, we travel with him, cook with him, and share our values of respect, responsibility, and kindness with him. We are looking forward to sharing all we have to give as a family with a new baby. We are already a fortunate family and we will feel blessed to share our love and lives with our children who we will love whole-heartedly. We were so thrilled to be chosen by Kasun’s birth parents and to meet them and get to know them.     We can’t wait to shower another child with love. Kasun is also excited about having a sibling. Our dogs, Buckeye and Shadie, love kids and have been gentle and loving with Kasun. They are wonderful companions to our family.

We take every opportunity we can to get together with our extended families during summer and the holidays. We have visited England, Pennsylvania, Lake Tahoe, and Florida so Kasun can spend the holidays and summers with his cousins, aunt and uncles, and grand parents. He is the latest grandchild of the family so he gets a lot of attention and special care. Our family can’t wait to shower another child with love and attention, and to add to the fun of our holidays and summers we spend all together.

We have many friendly neighbors with kids who love to come over and play. We also have friends in the area from work and other social activities with whom we are close. We play with all of the kids and families often because we value social interaction and because it makes Kasun so happy, and us as well. We know how much he will welcome a baby brother or sister.

As a family we love to travel and explore. As we have mentioned, we have traveled to many places and we intend to continue this trend in our future. We are both avid cooks who love to include Kasun (and eventually our new child) in the process of creating delicious food to eat. We adore hiking with our dogs and brining Kasun along for the ride. At times it can turn into a great adventure whether it is looking for lizards on a bridge- or petting cows noses through a fence. Our life and interests are simple, enjoyable, and fun.
