Dear Expectant Mother,
You are our Hero! We find your decision to consider adoption for your child admirable and courageous. We hope you will read our story, and let us show you the care, love, and secure home we wish to provide your child. No matter whom you choose, we trust that you will make the right decision for your baby and yourself.
We are Meenu and Vaneet. We are in our late 30s, and have been married for fourteen years. We are best friends and have been virtually inseparable since we first met in 2003. In 2012, we adopted our son, Ojas. He has brought us even closer. We live in a lovely town south of San Francisco. A diverse community of people surrounds us, and it is a safe and beautiful area with many parks and secluded hiking trails in the nearby hills.
We enjoy doing everything together. We love to go on bike rides on Saturday mornings, followed by a yummy breakfast cooked by Vaneet. We also like to explore food from different cultures, go out for movies, or simply play in our yard. Meenu has a small kitchen garden, where she grows many vegetables and herbs. Over the years, we have planted many fruit trees including grapes, oranges, persimmons, and figs.
We also love to travel, and have taken many memorable trips together, near and far. Since, Ojas was born, we have learned how to make cheese in Switzerland, strolled along the River Seine and marveled at the Eiffel tower in Paris, lived like royals at a 250-year-old palace and enjoyed breath-taking views of Taj Mahal in India, acted like kids on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas, and paid tribute to the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
Both of us grew up in very large extended families, and we were always around children. We had long hoped to have children of our own, and so were excited to start our family through adoption. We have enthusiastically embraced parenthood and are now thrilled to include a second child in our family.
About Meenu by Vaneet
Meenu is a naturally optimistic person. She is always smiling, and is a loving, caring person. She is wonderful with kids, and naturally draws kids to her, because of her positive energy and nurturing personality. Ojas, as well as our nephews and nieces, love being with Meenu, because she always comes up with fun activities, and has the same level of energy and enthusiasm as they do. Her favorite part of the day is when she picks up Ojas from pre-school, and how he runs to her to hug and kiss her, and shares the exciting stories about his day with her.
Meenu was born in India, and is the second of three sisters. She has fond memories of her childhood, spending summer vacations with her cousins at their grandparents’ home, traveling throughout India with her family and playing with her siblings. She is great with numbers, and she is also a great dancer. Meenu has a master’s degree in engineering from San Diego State University, and worked for a large semiconductor company in San Diego. She also volunteered her time as a math tutor through her university. After working for the same company for more than ten years, Meenu recently changed jobs to work for a technology company in Santa Clara, which is in the heart of Silicon Valley (where the tech companies are). Meenu plans to take time off from her work to bond with our new child.
Meenu is a great cook, and loves to experiment with food from different parts of the world. She loves to involve our little one in cooking projects in the kitchen. In her free time, Meenu enjoys hiking, and biking.
About Vaneet by Meenu
Vaneet is the kindest person I know. He is an honest, supportive, and a dedicated husband. He is incredibly patient, especially with kids. He can spend hours listening and sharing stories with Ojas. He is an amazing husband and dad. Vaneet and Ojas love to play with trains, ride bikes, play soccer, or simply play tag in our backyard. He can’t wait to cradle another little one, change diapers, or make funny faces to make him/her laugh.
Vaneet was born in India, and is the eldest of two brothers. He had a fun and happy childhood. In school, he was a good student, and also excelled in sports. Since childhood, he had a knack for building/fixing electronics, and always wanted to become an electrical engineer. So after finishing a degree in engineering in India, he came to United States for graduate school. After completing his master’s degree, he worked in several electronics companies in San Diego. In 2011, he was given the opportunity to work for a prominent consumer electronics company in the Bay Area. He is the manager of a large team of engineers located in various parts of the world. Vaneet feels honored to represent his company to many customers and industry forums.
Vaneet loves to travel, and has visited many countries in Asia, Europe, North and South Americas. These experiences have given him a very good perspective about different cultures and appreciation for diverse thinking.
In his free time, Vaneet enjoys playing tennis, swimming, and loves to work in and around the house on small projects and in the yard.
Ojas is a very social, confident, energetic, loving and thoughtful four-year-old. His favorite activities include attending martial arts and swimming classes, playing soccer with his dad, riding his bicycle, listening to and reading story books, and dancing and enjoying music. Ojas knows about his adoption and talks to his birth mother and half brother several times a year. He is thrilled about becoming a big brother. He will be a gentle and loving sibling to the new baby.
Both of us have very large extended families, with more than forty cousins in many parts of the world, including Canada, Germany, England, India, New Zealand, and Australia. Vaneet is very close to his brother and cousins. Vaneet’s brother and sister-in-law are both doctors in the Midwest, where they live with their two kids, a 7-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old girl. Meenu’s sister and brother-in-law live in Canada with their 13-year-old son. The cousins love to spend time with each other. We see each other at least twice a year and talk with each other weekly.
Our child will have the unconditional love of four grandparents, who visit us yearly, and are very excited to welcome a new grandchild into our family. Both of our parents have been married for more than 40 years, and have provided us with many of the opportunities we have had in our lives. They have been excellent parenting role models. We plan to carry their values forward in parenting our children, and be proud of their every achievement.
We are fortunate to own a home in a lovely town thirty miles south of San Francisco. Our home is in a quiet area, with lots of natural beauty around it. The area is a very desirable place to raise a child. It has excellent schools, parks, playgrounds, shops, restaurants, cultural events, sports and medical facilities nearby. We also own a house in San Diego, which is within minutes of the beaches. We are looking forward to many trips there to visit Legoland, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and simply play in the sand with our little ones.
We have been blessed to raise our first child through adoption, and are excited to have the opportunity to expand our little family with another child. We intend to provide our children with a wide range of educational, social, cultural, and spiritual experiences. We will value our child for his/her own uniqueness and will help to fulfill our child’s potential and pursue his/her interests and talents. We plan to provide a home environment that is predicable, stable, playful and loving. We are firm believers in adoption, and would love to maintain a level of contact that is comfortable to all of us.
