In front of our home

We are Dave & Roxane and we can’t wait to share our lives and welcome a new member to our family. Our relationship is full of LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, and RESPECT and we want you to know how much we respect you and hope that you will take the time to learn about us and perhaps even join us on this journey.

Roxane grew up in Florida, a beach kid who loved swimming. Dave is from Colorado, where he grew up next to the mountains. California is our chosen home and we have both lived

here for more 15 years. In 2010 we were introduced by friends at a camp-out in the woods and very quickly became inseparable. A year later, Dave proposed to Roxane on top of the Eiffel Tower and the following summer we were married in the hills of Santa Cruz, surrounded by many loved ones.

In 2015 we moved from our San Francisco apartment to a lovely home in nearby Kensington and found Hattie, a sweet doggie at a nearby animal rescue shelter. We love playing, and cuddling with her and teaching her new tricks, she loves children and we know she will be a loyal companion to our little one. Our home is an open, warm place full of love and laughter. Friends and family often visit for dinners or brunches on the weekends. We have so much love in our hearts and can’t wait to share our next new adventures with a child.

ROXANE HAS TRAVELED ALL OVER THE WORLD (27 different countries so far, including New Zealand, Japan, and Spain) and loves photography. She is already planning family trips and can’t wait to show the wonders of the world to our child. She is also an enthusiastic reader (she has read many award-winning novels) and volunteers on weekends as a supervisor for a sex-education non-profit organization in San Francisco).

DAVE’S PASSION IS MUSIC. He plays guitar and piano, writes songs and sings. He’s also pretty handy – he built a fence around the backyard to keep kids and pets safe, poured concrete to fix the driveway, and built several raised-bed gardens for Roxane to grow flowers, carrots, eggplant, strawberries, and more!

While paying the bills is important, our primary priority will always be our child and our family. Luckily, both of us have great jobs at progressive companies that offer flexible work schedules and great benefits. Dave is a project manager for Major League Baseball & works from home on most mornings. Roxane is a software engineer for a science and technology company, she works from home on Fridays and her company offers unlimited vacation time so she can be available for our child. Both of us are planning to work fewer hours when we become parents.

  • She loves tea (no really, there’s like 100 different teas in our kitchen).
  • She likes to eat popcorn with chopsticks.
  • Roxane is the most caring, nurturing, generous, wonderful person I have ever known and I am always amazed and honored to be her friend and husband.

ABOUT DAVE• (by Roxane)

  • He loves kids’ movies (The Incredibles and The Muppet Movie are among his favorites)
  • He can play on guitar pretty much any song he’s ever heard! He’s dying to share his love of music with a child.
  • Dave is devoted and loyal. A friend is a friend forever and he’s very close to his family. And of course, I know he’ll be there for our children and me forever.

THE K I D S in our L I V E S

As a teenager, Roxane was the neighborhood babysitter and Dave spent many years teaching guitar to kids. These days we are very fortunate to have many kids in our lives. We are godparents to two wonderful young girls Evelyn and Sophie (ages 8 and 5). Their father, Lee, has been one of Dave’s closest friends since grade school.

We babysit our good friends Jonathan and Gabriel (ages 3 and 1) and enjoy singing songs, baking cookies, and inventing stories with them.

Our families are over-the-moon excited about another child joining our family and adoption is accepted and familiar

Roxane has three cousins who were adopted and Dave’s mother has already knit a pile of baby blankets ready and waiting for our little one. Dave’s sister in nearby Santa Rosa can’t wait to be an aunt.

We are also lucky to have a tight-knit community of friends (many of whom also have kids) and our lives are full of dinners, outings, and other family-friendly activities. In addition to many relatives, our child will have a huge cast of honorary aunts, uncles, and cousins in her or his life.

We promise that your child will be raised in a stable and loving home rooted in the values of COMPASSION, EDUCATION, KINDNESS and INTEGRITY. And, of course, lots of playtime and fun, too.

Kensington is a hidden gem – in fact, many people in our area don’t know where it is! Only 30 minutes away from San Francisco, it feels more like a small town. Our house is on a beautiful tree-lined street and we know all of our neighbors. There is a big block party on Labor Day and every Sunday morning we walk just two blocks down to the Farmers Market to buy fresh fruit and veggies, hear great local bands, and share tasty coffee with friends. Kensington has some of the top-rated schools in the Bay Area and a great public library. We often encounter deer and wild turkeys when we’re out walking with Hattie around the neighborhood. We know our child will thrive in our lovely, family-friendly town.

We promise to be the most nurturing and adoring family for your/our child. We promise to teach them that there are no obstacles they cannot overcome, no dreams too crazy to dream, and that they are loved beyond measure. We promise to play with them in the sand,, sing out loud with them to their favorite songs, wipe away their tears when they’re sad, take them to dance and/or karate lessons and on memorable family adventures!
