Dear Expectant Mother,
Hi! We are Bobby and Alma, from West Hollywood, California. We thank you for the opportunity to tell you a bit about our lives. We admire your courage in considering adoption for your baby; we hope this letter gives you a sense of who we are and what we can offer to your child. We hope after reading about us we can find out about you as well and answer any questions you may have.
About Our Family
We met in 2004 through work, and ever since our first date, we have been inseparable. From the beginning, our passion for travel, art, nature, and politics brought us
together. We love camping and one of our favorite memories was going to Yosemite National Park where we hiked the Half-dome trail in one day. We got married in 2012 in a beautiful ceremony by the beach in one of our favorite places in Mexico. Closer to home, we love going to many concerts together, especially to one of our favorite places, the Hollywood Bowl, where we enjoy seeing many musical events.
Three years ago we were blessed with our daughter Lincoln Rose. She has been the love and joy of our lives. We would love to have had a second child and we are grateful for the opportunity that adoption has given us. The focus of our lives is our family. Our goal is to provide a loving, respectful, and safe environment for our children to blossom into authentic, confident, resourceful, cheerful, curious adults.
Family is central to our lives. Bobby’s mother and father live only a mile away, and his brother lives with his wife and three children also less than a mile away. We all get together every Friday night to celebrate the Sabbath, and generally get together at least two or three times a week. Alma’s family mainly lives in her home town of Guadalajara, Mexico. Her brother lives close to her mom with his wife and 2-month- old daughter. Her father lives in Acapulco, and we take trips to Mexico to visit them all at least three to four times a year. We also make regular trips to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada to visit Alma’s older sister and her husband. We just went on a two week camping trip to British Columbia with them, Alma’s mom, and all our dogs.
About Alma…by Bobby
It may sound cliché, but I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world to be married to Alma. She still surprises me with her kindness, patience, and great sense of humor.
I admire her intelligence and her concern for other people, animals and world around her. She is my best friend and I am such a better person for having met her. Alma loves adventure and the outdoors. She is a certified scuba diver, and she loves camping, hiking and traveling. At home she enjoys reading and cooking and baking for the family.
Alma was born and raised in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles in her mid-twenties. She got her Bachelors Degree in Marketing and International Business in Mexico, after which she was hired in marketing by a California start-up company, which brought her to the United States. Se loves to explore different places and cultures, and she has traveled to a variety of countries in Europe, South America, the Middle East as well as Canada and Mexico. Now she is devoted to raising our family, and she looks forward to further exploring the world with our children as they grow older. She is very devoted to her family and speaks with her mother almost every day and is in frequent contact with her siblings and friends in Mexico.
All her best qualities come together as a mother. She is very involved in Lincoln’s school and they are both regulars at our local museums as well as ballet, yoga classes and swim classes. Alma balances love and infinite patience with respect and diligence to nourish and stimulate her physically, intellectually, and emotionally. I can see how her nurturing has enabled our child to flourish and thrive every single day.
About Bobby…by Alma
Bobby is my best friend and the love of my life. I am one of those lucky people
who had the chance to marry my “other half.” He is an amazing husband and father,
and he is committed to making sure we are safe, happy and healthy. Bobby grew up in Beverly Hills, California, with his parents, brother, grandparents and a big extended family. He is extremely close to his family, and he cares deeply about others and the world around him. As a kid he excelled in school, especially in science, and he loved volunteering to help local charities. He is still close with many of his childhood friends—they call themselves “the family you choose.”
Bobby graduated from college, and immediately started his own business from the ground up in fashion, making women’s handbags. He loves setting his own schedule and creating a product that makes women happy. When not at work, Bobby enjoys exploring the hiking trails around the area with our dogs, as well as sharing dinner and theater and the many museums in LA with friends and family.
Bobby is an amazing father. He makes sure to be home in time to be involved with Lincoln’s night time routine. He has always been an involved father, sharing in the day to day care, as well as taking part in her school activities—once a month he helps in the classroom. He loves playing with Lincoln, whether that be dancing,
playing music, reading with her, or putting together puzzles. More than once I have walked in Lincoln’s room to find them playing dress up and having a tea party!
About Lincoln Rose
Our daughter Lincoln Rose is now 3 years old. She is the best thing to ever happen to us and we love being parents. She has become a smart, funny, giving, happy child who couldn’t make us prouder. We have tried to raise her to be her own special self.
She is a loving, curious, independent little girl. She is constantly being asked for playdates from all her friends. She is amazingly adaptable—she loves playing with other children but is also very comfortable playing on her own at home.
Lincoln just started preschool in September in a small, beautiful school surrounded by nature that requires parent involvement by assisting the teachers for a full school day twice a month. We are excited about the idea of being directly involved in our daughter’s school education and community, as we plan to be with all our children. We know Lincoln Rose will be a wonderful sister and she is very excited to become a big sister.
Our Home & Community
We own a spacious two-bedroom condominium in the heart of West Hollywood, California. We have a pool where our daughter has been swimming since she was 3 months old. We love our neighborhood because of its diversity and acceptance of all religions, races, and lifestyles. It is a place where we know all our neighbors and watch out for each other. We are surrounded by parks and playgrounds, we live within walking distance of the public library, restaurants, hiking trails and we are 25 minutes from the beach where we love to spend time with our family during the summer
We have two small rescue dogs; Roscoe, who is 10, and Sadie, who is 3 years old. They are an important part of our family, and our daughter’s joy.
Our Thoughts on Parenting
To us, parenting is the most important job we can have. We believe in a strong foundation of learning as well as a foundation of love and trust. We are committed to providing an environment where our children can grow to be independent, confident, and curious. It is important to us that they experience different cultures through travel and study. We will encourage our children to set their own goals and dreams and to help provide a path to reach those dreams. Both of our parents have
worked hard to provide many opportunities for us and we want to pass that on to our children.
Our Promise to You
We are humbled to be considered as the adoptive family for your child. We respect and honor the courage it takes to make the decision to place your child for adoption. We understand the importance of finding a family that feels right to you. We can promise you that a child in our care will receive love from two caring and devoted parents, a big sister and all our extended families.
We would like the chance to learn about you in return and develop a relationship that is comfortable for you while respecting your privacy. We believe that it is important that your child grows up knowing that your decision was made with love in his or her best interest.
